Communication systems are today an integrated part of the social and professional lives of people. Self-evident parts of the communication systems are the mobile telephone and Internet. The need of engineers that develop and maintain communication technology is very big. The Swedish and the international industry have large recruitment needs of competent engineers. The study programme Electrical Engineering with specialisation in Telecommunications, 180 HE credits, gives the students basic knowledge within electronics, computer technology, linear systems, telecommunications, automatic control and signal processing. The programme prepares for work in the industry inter alia in the telecommunications industry within GSM, 3G, 4G, Internet, networks, image and sound improvement. All the teaching is in English.Qualification Awarded
The education leads up to a first-cycle qualification with the descriptionDegree of Bachelor of Science.

Admission Criteria
In the case of more qualified applicants than number of available places for the current programme start, a selection is made. This is done in the following way:All qualified applicants are placed in one or several selection groups parallelly and then participate in the selection within respective group.
Grade-based selection:
BG - grade average in the 0-20 scale:
Final school grades from the upper-secondary school programmes, final school grades from the upper-secondary school, adult education at upper-secondary level, foreign grades and transcript of courses and grades of the upper-secondary school.
BF - assessment
Folk high school with certificate of general/general entry requirements and student assessment. The distribution of places between the two grade-based groups are made in proportion to the number of applicants in each group.
SA - late applications
This selection group is for late applications. An applicant that submits a late application is placed in this selection group and is assigned tariff after day of arrival.
Examination-based selection:
HEP - the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test
In the examination-based selection all qualified applicants with a valid Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test participate. The lowest accepted result to participate in the examination-based selection is 0.1 points.
Other applicants:
The applicant that satisfies the requirement of entry requirements of but lacks a tariff can only be admitted provided that all in the above groups have been offered places.
DA - Direct admission can take place under certain circumstances through individual review.
Distribution of places:
At the admission to a study programme, 67 % of the places should be distributed in a grade-based selection and 33 % in an examination-based selection. An applicant that satisfies the requirements for both the selection groups should be included in both.
Qualified applicants with the same qualifications:
If two or several applicants to an alternative at first- and second cycle have the same tariff, lots will be drawn.

Student who has been admitted to the programme and has earlier completed a course that corresponds to a course within the programme, can apply for recognition of prior studies. If possible, the student will be offered admission to an alternative course. Studies abroad within the programme can normally be partly or fully recognised. Structure
Mode of delivery
The two first years of the study programme are concentrated on the students acquiring the fundamentals in electrical engineering, mathematics, computer technology, electronics, linear systems, programming and sustainable development. During the first year, the students go through the CISCO certification process. At the end of the second year, an advanced development project within electrical engineering is carried out.The third year focuses on the bases for modern electrical engineering. Specialisation can be chosen in telecommunication systems or in signal processing. The programme is completed by a degree project that is carried out at an industry or at BTH.
The start of the programme in the first academic year is adapted to European conditions which implies that the start is around 20 September. The end of the first academic year is around 25 June. School year 2 and 3 are intended to follow the regular semesters of the higher education institution.
