Admission
Prerequisites
For admission to the study programme, general entry requirements are requiredRead more about general admission requirements.
Admission Criteria
If there are more qualified applicants than available places for the current programme start, a selection is made. This is done in the following way:Selection to education takes place, when all qualified applicants can not be offered a place. This is done for programmes by means of various types of tariffs/grade averages dependent on which type of education the application refers to which background the applicant has. Applicants can belong to several selection groups parallelly and participate in the selection within respective group.
Admission Procedure
Read about the admission procedure.Recognition of prior studies and studies abroad
Student who has been admitted to the programme and has earlier completed a course that corresponds to a course within the programme, can apply for recognition of prior studies. If possible, the student will be offered admission to an alternative course. Studies abroad within the programme can normally be partly or fully recognised. In these cases a decision is made via the Learning Agreement, prior the study period.Read more about studying abroad.

In addition to the nationally regulated aims, the following aims apply to the education. After completion of the education, the student should
- be able to, technically and economically, analyse and give proposal for which manufacturing processes that are appropriate for production of mechanical engineering products.
- independently be able to give proposals to improve and develop products.
- be able to analyse and simulate the function of a product.
- be able to make a simpler analysis of the strength of a product.
- master common occurring means of assistance and methods that are available to manage these assignments.
- understand the environmental impact of a product and have the ability to weigh in these aspects in the development work.
Structure
Mode of delivery
The table below describes recommended order of the compulsory courses included in the programme with admission fall term of 2010. Certain of the courses of the programme are coordinated between several programmes which can influence the order and placing of courses in time. Therefore, we make reservations to possible changes during the time of the education. The aim of the study programme is achieved through the courses that are included in the higher education qualification. Assessment and examination take place at course level, and details concerning examination and grading are in respective course syllabus.
During the time of the education, each course is evaluated and the course evaluations form the basis of the continued development work.
NOTE! It is the start term of the course that is stated below. See each course to find out the actual length of the course.

Statements from former students.Tomas Grönberg
“I still work at my earlier job as a tool-maker at Gestamp Hardtech LTD in Luleå. The education was, however, very relevant for my work, and I now also help with more advanced tasks. The company has also given prospects of a more advanced job if and when I want this .”
Admir Omic´
“I still work for my earlier employer, Johnson Metal LTD. Earlier, I worked as a NC-operator, but after completed education, I work as production technician. The education was very relevant for my work, and I have more advanced tasks now. I prepare subcontractor jobs and make sure that they end up in the right machine groups for processing and make sure that the preconditions to do the jobs exist.”
